‘Bono: Stories of Surrender’ Is Headed to Apple TV+
The documentary based on the U2’s frontman’s one-man show is accompanied by the first-ever feature-length film to be available on Apple Vision Pro in Apple Immersive Video.

Apple Original Films has announced a new documentary, Bono: Stories of Surrender. The movie explores the U2 frontman’s one-man show by the same name. Based on Bono’s memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story, and the accompanying book/theatre tour, the film is directed by Andrew Dominik and hails from RadicalMedia and Plan B Entertainment. The film premieres globally on May 30 on Apple TV+.
Also set to premiere on the same day is Bono: Stories of Surrender (Immersive), the first feature-length film to be available on Apple Vision Pro in Apple Immersive Video. The film was recorded in 8K with Spatial Audio to produce a 180-degree video, placing viewers on stage with Bono.
Bono: Stories of Surrender reimagines Bono’s acclaimed one-man stage show, Stories of Surrender: An Evening of Words, Music and Some Mischief… as he reveals personal stories and lessons from his remarkable life. The film will include never-before-seen footage from the U2’s singer’s April 2023 residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre. The film will also feature Bono performing some of U2’s iconic songs. Bono executive produces alongside Jennifer Pitcher and and Kelly McNamara.
An abridged and updated paperback edition of Bono’s bestselling memoir will be released concurrently with the documentary film. This version of the book has been refined to mirror the arc of the stage show and features a film tie-in book cover and new introduction by the author.
In January, Bono received the Presidential Medal of Honor from President Joe Biden.
“Thank you President Biden,” Bono wrote on Instagram. “Frontmen don’t do humble, but today I was. Rock n roll gave me my freedom… and with it the privilege to work alongside those who’ve had to fight so much harder for theirs. And I want to give it up for my band mates – Edge, Adam, and Larry – without whom I would never have found my voice.”
