Queen announces sing-along screenings off the smash hit biopic Bohemian Rhapsody at over 750 theatres across North America this Friday.
Queen is ready to rock audiences all over North America once more with the announcement of sing-along screenings off the smash hit biopic Bohemian Rhapsody at over 750 theatres across North America this Friday, Variety reports.
Fans can test their harmonisation skills following the lyrics on the screen for all the band’s hits that appear in the film including ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘We Are the Champions’, ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’, ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ and the title song.
“We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to see this outstanding Golden Globe-winning film featuring Rami Malek’s amazing Golden Globe-winning performance in theatres all over the US and Canada in both its original form and in a never-before-experienced ‘sing-along’ version,” Fox president of domestic distribution Chris Aronson said.
Since its surprise win at the Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture, Drama, Bohemian Rhapsody will expand from its current 1,080 domestic locations to more than 1,300 this weekend. The success of the film was also buoyed by Rami Malek’s Golden Globe winning performance as the charismatic frontman Freddie Mercury.
After accepting the award, Malek thanked Queen’s guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor “for ensuring that authenticity and inclusivity exists in music and in the world and all of us.”
Just before the end of the year, Bohemian Rhapsody became the highest-grossing music biopic of all time.
The film also recently picked up seven nominations for the BAFTA Awards including Outstanding British Film, Rami Malek for Leading Actor, Cinematography, Editing and Costume Design, among others.
These special screenings follow a previous run of successful sing-alongs held by Fox Studios for the Hugh Jackman musical The Greatest Showman in the UK, and greatly contributed to the film’s popularity.
With the Academy Award nominations just a few weeks away, Bohemian Rhapsody and Malek are also predicted to be contenders at thus year’s awards.
