As uDiscover Music previously reported, Capitol Records and UMe recently announced the debut of Seger’s official artist channel on YouTube with the premiere of the brand new lyric video for his signature hit ‘Night Moves’. ‘The Fire Inside’s new video is the latest in an on-going series of videos Capitol is producing to highlight the stalwart Detroit rocker’s classic hits.
‘The Fire Inside’ is the title track from Bob Seger’s fourteenth studio album. The record was released in mid-1991 through Capitol. It was Seger’s first album of entirely new music since Like a Rock in 1986. It features contributions from Joe Walsh, Bruce Hornsby, Roy Bittan, Steve Lukather, Don Was, Waddy Wachtel, Rick Vito, Mike Campbell, Patty Smyth, Lisa Germano, and Kenny Aronoff.
Seger discussed ‘The Fire Inside’ with Music Connection in 1994. “I thought the second verse about the club scenes was a killer, and the last verse worked, but I started to realize that the original first verse of that song was not nearly as strong as the others,” he said. “So I wracked my brain for a long time on that song. It’s like you’ll work and work and work, and then three weeks later, the answer will just pop into your head.”
On release, The Fire Inside received a mixed critical reception, but was a solid commercial success, peaking at number 7 on the US Billboard album chart, and yielding a Platinum disc.
The Bob Seger Official Artist Channel will also premiere rare and classic Seger music videos restored for the first time in HD, and feature custom playlists of Seger’s catalogue in HD quality audio, fan generated videos, as well as rare and unreleased content. Fans around the world can share their favourite Seger stories on the channel’s Community page.
Seger is an inductee of both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The 2015 Billboard Legend of Live honoree’s catalogue has sold over 53 million albums and has earned 13 platinum and 8 multi-platinum RIAA Certified sales awards. Seger’s 72 date ‘Roll Me Away’ tour wrapped up in Philadelphia on 1 November 2019, with the star having performed for nearly one million fans along the way.
