BlueBucksClan Break Hearts On New Single, ‘Valentine’s Day’
The new song is the first taste of the duo’s forthcoming project and it arrives just in time to subvert the romantic holiday.
Los Angeles rap titans BlueBucksClan take an unsentimental look at a rosy holiday on their latest single “Valentine’s Day,” out now via Out The Blue Records / Capitol Records.
The new song is the first taste of the duo’s forthcoming project and it arrives just in time to subvert the romantic holiday. It’s a coldhearted anthem for those ignoring texts from behind the windows of a luxury whip.
The brooding and booming beat on “Valentine’s Day” allows the pair a luxurious atmosphere to chronicle every designer stitch and lust-filled evening of their extravagant playboy lifestyles, flipping the bird to sentimental partners and the titular holiday. In their unique and characteristic fashion, DJ and Jeeezy trade short verses as if competing to see who can squeeze in more deadpan punchlines. “How the fuck she hear me on your story?” Jeeezy quips. “I don’t understand it / I went ghost on Valentine’s, I ain’t romantic.”
DJ follows suit, narrating the morning after a cinematic night he can’t remember. “I just woke up bitches all around me asking ‘em what happened” he raps. “Must been a movie I got all this glitter on my mattress.” This is BlueBucksClan at their boldest and best.
“Valentine’s Day” arrives after BlueBucksClan’s menacing single “Come Again” and their landmark 2021. Featured on “Rappers to Watch” lists for both Complex and Billboard, they realized that promise with Clan Virus 2, their seventh project in two years. Each track featured their witty punchlines, flamboyant boasts, and charismatic back-and-forth delivery.
Last fall, DJ and Jeeezy brought all of the above on the road. They toured with fellow West Coast heavyweight Bino Rideaux for his On My Soul tour, captivating so many fans that they now have over 142 million streams in the U.S. alone. Their forthcoming project and singles like “Valentine’s Day” are sure to bring even more fans into their world and usher in another record year for L.A.’s most unstoppable duo.
