BLACKPINK’s Lisa Breaks Fourth Guinness World Record Of 2023 So Far
The star achieved the feat with her solo single ‘Money’
BLACKPINK’s Lisa has broken another Guinness World Record, taking her total achievements in the list in 2023 so far to four.
The K-pop idol was confirmed to have broken three records in January with achievements she completed in 2022. They included becoming the first solo K-pop winner at the MTV Video Music Awards, becoming the first solo K-pop winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards, and being the K-pop artist with the most followers on Instagram. At the time, Lisa was followed by 86.3 million people – she now sits on 97.8 million followers.
Lisa’s fourth Guinness World Record of 2023 comes via her solo single, “Money,” which was released in 2021. Last week (September 21), she entered Spotify’s Billions Club with the track after it surpassed 1 billion streams on the platform.
Now, Guinness World Records has confirmed that feat has added to Lisa’s tally of records because “Money” is the first K-pop track by a solo artist to pass the huge milestone on Spotify.
Lisa will make more history this week as she becomes the first K-pop idol to perform at Paris’ historic Crazy Horse Cabaret. The star will hold a short residency at the venue, kicking off tonight (September 28) and continuing through Saturday (30).
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK recently concluded its Born Pink world tour with two shows in Seoul, following stadium appearances across the US. The tour saw the girl group become the first K-pop act to headline California’s Coachella festival and London’s BST Hyde Park.
The four-piece shared a new song called “The Girls” in August to promote its new mobile app, The Game. The music video premiered in the app and showed BLACKPINK’s in-game cartoon avatars dancing to the new track.
In The Game, fans can become BLACKPINK’s manager, solving puzzles to complete tasks like managing schedules.
