Billie Eilish has confirmed that work on her hugely-anticipated third album has been completed and mastered.

The star has been working on the follow-up to 2021’s Happier Than Ever and told fans in December 2023 that it was “almost done”.

Eilish shared the news in an Instagram caption alongside four photos of herself wearing a black balaclava with a white star pattern on it. “My album is mastered,” she wrote in the caption.

Although further details of the record have yet to be confirmed, the pop star has shared some insight into the making of the album in recent months. Last August, Eilish appeared on Dua Lipa’s At Your Service podcast and discussed how her creative process had changed for her third album.

“Everything is different about it,” Eilish said. “The way that I exist in the room is different; my voice has completely changed since then…The voice-changing thing is a trip! It’s all kind of shocking.”

The 22-year-old musician has already had a big start to 2024, thanks to her Barbie soundtrack contribution, “What Was I Made For?” The track was named Best Original Song at the 2024 Golden Globes, Song Of The Year, and Best Song Written For Visual Media at the 2024 Grammys. Eilish and brother Finneas performed the song at both ceremonies.

“What Was I Made For?” is also nominated for Best Original Song at this year’s Oscars. That ceremony will take place on March 10. If Eilish wins, it will be her second Oscar victory – she previously collected the trophy for Best Original Song in 2021 for Bond theme “No Time To Die.”

Last year, the star added to her trophy collection with a BRIT Billion Award, recognizing her achievement of surpassing one billion streams in the UK. The BRIT Billion Award was officially launched in May 2023, with 13 artists among the first wave of recipients, including ABBA, Coldplay, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Anne-Marie, and Lewis Capaldi.
