Billie Eilish Announces Radio Show With Her Dad
The music-themed ‘me & dad Radio’ premieres tomorrow on Apple Music’s Beats 1.
Billie Eilish and her father, actor Patrick O’Connell, are launching a new radio show on Apple Music’s Beats 1. The six-episode show, adorably called me & dad Radio, will feature a variety of handpicked music from Eilish and her father, and plenty of conversation about the tunes that they love. The show airs tomorrow, 8 May, at noon PST.

In a statement, the Grammy Award-winning artist said, “My dad and I…have had this relationship over the years of music-sharing with each other. It’s kind of like a thing everybody knows.” She continued, “My dad has shown me some of my favourite songs in the world, and I’ve shown him songs that he loves and adores.”
O’Connell chimed in, adding “That was the genesis of this whole show: I’ll play you a bunch of stuff you don’t know that I think is great”.
Eilish’s mother, Maggie Baird, will also make an appearance in one of the episodes.
The radio show is the second that Eilish has hosted for Beats 1. In 2018, prior to the release of her chart-topping debut, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, the artist launched groupies have feelings too along with her brother and musical collaborator, FINNEAS.
The pop artist and her close-knit family have been keeping busy while isolating. In April, Eilish and FINNEAS performed multiple intimate performances from home for a variety of causes, including Verizon’s weekly Pay It Forward Live series, which raises funds for small businesses. The siblings chose to shine a spotlight on their mother’s Support + Feed, an organisation that supports plant-based restaurants and helps feed essential workers on the front lines.
The duo also performed a cover of Bobby Hebb’s 1966 hit ‘Sunny’, for Global Citizen’s One World: Together At Home live-stream broadcast. They joined artists like Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Lizzo and The Rolling Stones, to raise nearly $128 million for the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
Today also marks the final day of voting for the 2020 Webby People’s Voice Awards, where fans are encouraged to vote for the best content on the internet. A viral video of Billie Eilish watching fans cover her songs – produced by Glamour and Condé Nast Entertainment– is among the nominees.
