Benee Takes Us On A Nocturnal Ride In ‘Never Ending’ Video
The single features on the New Zealand pop star’s new EP ‘Lychee’
Benee has shared a new music video for her latest single “Never Ending,” which follows her on a nocturnal journey.
The visuals start with the New Zealand pop star strolling down a street with her dog, before cutting to scenes in an empty industrial space with lights flashing wildly around her, and a nighttime motorbike ride. It was directed by Devan Narsai and Riley Coughlin, with production by Jaimee Brooking.
“From the start, I knew I wanted the ‘Never Ending’ video to be driven by lots of fast cuts and lots of post-production to make it a really cool visual trip!” Benee said in a press release. “The video was made with two friends of mine Devan and Riley – Devan has a really good eye for shots and Riley is super skilled at creative direction.
“I also knew Riley would kill the whole post prod side of the project! This has been my favorite video to date as I just love how well it suits the song. It was a last-minute decision to put my dog Tūī in it, but I knew she’d make my performance walking down the street feel more natural.”
“Never Ending” features on Benee’s EP Lychee, which was released last week (March 4), and the track was co-written and produced by Rostam. In a review of the EP, DIY singled out the track calling it “the pick of the bunch […] where 90s alt-rock guitars are subtly updated via a 20s alt-pop filter, paired with hip hop rhythms and the singer’s typically heart-on-sleeve lyrics for a low-key anthemic track.”
The new single follows previous releases from the EP, including “Beach Boy” – in the video for which the rising artist manifested a vampire – and “Doesn’t Matter.”
Benee will hit the road in support of the record at the end of May when she embarks on her first North American tour since 2019. The run of dates will see her perform at headline shows across the US and Canada, as well as make appearances at festivals including Governors Ball and Lollapalooza.
