Aurora Announces Publication Of First Book ‘The Gods We Can Touch’
Delving into process behind the creation of her hit album of the same name, the book will be out on November 16.
Fresh from a summer of European festival performances, Norwegian electro-pop enchantress Aurora announces the release of her first book, The Gods We Can Touch.
Named after her most recent album, this book opens the door into Aurora’s mind and the artistic process that shaped the UK Top 10 Album charting record. Published jointly by Faber Music & Decca Records, it will be available as a hardback edition in store and online on November 16.
Aurora says “This is a little book I wrote, trying to figure out the soul of my album.”
The Gods We Can Touch is a highly intimate book, taking readers on a journey to the very heart of Aurora’s world, through her creative process and the inspiration for her acclaimed third studio album. This full-color reproduction of Aurora’s personal notebook also features all the song lyrics from the album, original album artwork and stunning photography.
The Gods We Can Touch is a unique and immersive treasure trove for fans, which will be published as a beautifully presented cloth-bound hardcover. Fans will also have the opportunity to order an exclusive edition of the book including artwork cards designed in collaboration with Aurora.
Alongside the book, Aurora is also releasing a special edition vinyl version of The Gods We Can Touch. Inspired by Greek mythology, described as “remarkable” by MOJO and “heavenly” by NME, the album landed at No.8 in the Official UK Album Chart and was the third most streamed new album in the world on Spotify the weekend of its release.
Growing up surrounded by forests and mountains near Bergen, Norway, Aurora Aksnes first felt the compulsion to sit alone and create at six years old. By the time she was 12 she had written “Runaway,” a song that would later receive a full release and, later still and thousands of miles away, would inspire another 12-year-old, Billie Eilish, to make her own music. The singer, songwriter and producer has now amassed over 11.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify, racking up a whopping 2.6 billion overall streams and 1 million+ global album sales.
In 2022, Aurora completed a sold-out UK headline tour which included a stop at a packed London’s O2 Brixton Academy, before dominating stages across America. She also headlined Norway’s Øya Festival alongside Florence + The Machine and Gorillaz, and joined the star-studded line up at BST, alongside the likes of the legendary Duran Duran, Nile Rodgers & Chic and Laura Mvula to name a few.
