Ashlee Simpson Ross Rings in 20 Years of ‘Autobiography’
The ‘Pieces of Me’ and ‘La La’ singer will celebrate with a party at West Hollywood’s Evita.
Ashlee Simpson Ross will celebrate 20 years of debut album Autobiography with a party at the West Hollywood nightclub Evita.
The evening will feature live performances from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK stars Tayce and Cara Melle as well as sets from Gia Woods and Rhea Raj. Jessica L’Whor and Perla will also perform, as well as Noels Ark. The dance floor will be carried by DJs Aaron Colbert & Mateo Segade. The festivities go down Saturday July 20 from 9:00PM-2:00AM at Heart WEHO at 8911 Santa Monica Blvd. Tickets are available now.
Autobiography was released by Geffen Records on July 20, 2004. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was certified triple platinum by the RIAA. The album’s title track served as the theme song to MTV’s The Ashlee Simpson Show, which aired from 2004 to 2005 and initially followed the process of recording Autobiography.
Autobiography was led by the single “Pieces of Me,” a vulnerable pop-rock anthem. The song peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top 10 in several countries. Other singles include “Shadow,” which marked Simpson’s second Billboard Hot 100 entry, reaching No. 57 on the chart. The gold certified track “La La” was nominated for the Best Pop Video at the MTV Video Music Awards.
In 2005, Simpson Ross released her second album, I Am Me, which debuted at No. 1 in the US and reached No. 50 in the UK. It featured the singles “Boyfriend” and “L.O.V.E.” Her next album was 2008’s Bittersweet World which included the singles “Little Miss Obsessive” and “Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya).” In 2018, Simpson Ross and her husband, Evan Ross, released a collaborative EP under the name Ashlee + Evan as part of a reality show of the same name.
