‘Thank U, Next’ is described as an “empowering” tune that name checks Grande’s exes, including late boyfriend Mac Miller and former fiancé Pete Davidson. “Thank u, next/ Thank u, next/ Thank u, next/ I’m so f_n’ grateful for my ex,” she sings in the song’s direct chorus.

Of her new song, Grande took to Twitter to write: ‘Thank U, Next’, she wrote: “tis far from a diss track …. it’s the opposite.”

It’s only been a few months since Ariana Grande released Sweetener, but while on Twitter, she also dropped a few hints about her next project. After a rough patch that included the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller and a very public breakup with former fiancé Pete Davidson, Grande says she is embracing positivity and acceptance, revealing that her next album will be called Thank U, Next.

Its first single will share the name, which Grande insists isn’t meant to be about disrespect. “No drags…no shade…just love, gratitude, acceptance, honesty and growth,” she tweeted.

At the time of writing, there’s no official word on when Thank U, Next is slated to drop, but when a fan asked if a single would be released soon, Grande responded “sure.”

As uDiscover Music previously reported, Ariana Grande Sweetener claimed the coveted top spot on North America’s Billboard 200 less than two weeks after its release.

Sweetener marks Grande’s third No. 1 album, after her previous LP’s My Everything (2014) and Yours Truly (2013) achieved the same feat.

Grande wrote on social media: “I just wanted to say thank you so much. I know these things don’t really matter but I am over the moon grateful and I just want to thank you for all your warmth and for receiving this project with such love and thank you for all that you do.”
