Anitta Recruits Damiano David Of Måneskin For ‘Mil Veces’ Video
The track will be featured on Anitta’s forthcoming album ‘Funk Generation.’
Misunderstandings, breakups and comebacks—the often vicious cycle of the ups and downs of relationships—are the subject of Anitta’s highly anticipated new song, “Mil Veces.”
The track and music video are out now via Republic Records/UMLE and are part of her highly anticipated forthcoming album Funk Generation.
“We’ve gone through this a thousand times,” sings Anitta about a problematic and passionate relationship that is hard to end. “This is an incredible song! I love the attractive pop notes of its lyrics, which talk about a relationship that wasn’t meant to last but continues on and on experiencing ups and downs. It is crazy… it’s a relationship dynamic that many people have already experienced. I think ‘Mil Veces’ will relate to many people,” says Anitta.
“Mil Veces” is melodic funk, a sub genre of the Rio de Janeiro funk characterized by more lyrical and romantic content and a softer and melodic musical production. This is not by coincidence, as this sound aesthetic resembles Anitta’s early work in songs like “Meiga e Abusada” and “Eu Vou Ficar.”
The video for the song features a special appearance from Damiano David, vocalist of the chart-topping rock band, Måneskin, who plays Anitta’s significant other. “This video is really sexy! Sexy, dynamic, and it has a beautiful aesthetic… working with Damiano, who is endearing and has become a true friend, was incredible. I loved the end result and hope everyone likes it,” adds Anitta.
To fully capture the Brazilian identity of the track, Anitta was determined to bring producers from her native country for the production of her Funk Generation album. As is the case with DJ Gabriel do Borel, who worked on the composition and production of the new song. Born in the northern part of the city of Rio de Janeiro, he has an important presence in this new album, as he’s responsible for the arrangement of all the songs from the project revealed to date.
