Andrew Lloyd Webber has shared the London Gay Men’s Chorus version of “Marry For Love” from his upcoming rendition of Cinderella. The track was recorded at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane with 80 members of the choir.
As part of Attitude Magazine’s Pride From Home YouTube series, a special performance of “Marry For Love” will be airing on June 19. The visual will go behind the scenes of the choir rehearsals for the performance as well as personal interviews from members of the London Gay Men’s Chorus and special appearances from Webber himself. It will be later uploaded to the official channel of the choir.
“Marry For Love” is the latest single to be released from Webber’s Cinderella. Just this year, the theatre legend has shared “Far Too Late” and “I Know I Have A Heart” with Carrie Hope Fletcher who has been cast as the lead in the forthcoming theatre production of the classic fairytale. Recordings of “Bad Cinderella” with Fletcher and “Only You, Lonely You” with Ivano Turco arrived in late 2020.
Speaking of Fletcher’s recording of “I Know I Have A Heart,” Webber said: “I knew we needed a big power ballad moment for Cinderella and I am so excited for you to finally hear it. These things tend to come to you when you least expect them and I wrote this melody on a plane to LA. I sent it on to our lyricist and almost instantly David Zippel came back with the fantastic line, “I Know I Have a Heart Because You Broke it.” ‘I Know I Have A Heart’ is Cinderella’s ‘unrequited love moment’ in the show but won’t tell you more than that other than what a thrill it is to have a voice like Carrie’s record it.”
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella: The Musical (Original London Cast Recording) will be released globally via Polydor Records on July 9 and is available for pre-order.
