Andrea Bocelli Triumphs At Global Awards, Announces New Partnership With Decca
Superstar tenor Andrea Bocelli returned to the UK for a stunning performance at the inaugural Global Awards where he was crowned Best Classical Artist at the ceremony in London on 1 March.
Bocelli gave spine-tingling renditions of ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ and ‘Nessun Dorma’ in front of a packed audience at the Eventim Apollo, where he got two standing ovations. The legendary singer described the experience as emotional and a “big honour” before promising to return to the city as soon as he could.
Following his triumph at the Global Awards, Andrea Bocelli and Sugar Music have also announced a new partnership with Decca Label Group. Filippo Sugar, Sugar Music CEO, says: “Andrea is a true Italian icon in the world and now the most successful classical recording artist of all time, having sold over 90 million albums. We are proud to be by his side from the beginning of his incredible career, and excited about our future projects together.”
Rebecca Allen, President of Decca, says of the collaboration: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be forging an exciting partnership with Andrea Bocelli, an iconic artist whose jaw-dropping performance at the Global Awards last night shows the power of his incredible voice. We are looking forward to working more closely with Sugar Music as Andrea embarks on future projects.”
Bocelli has recorded fifteen solo studio albums, of both pop and classical music, three greatest hits albums, and nine complete operas, selling over 80 million records worldwide. He has had success as a crossover performer bringing classical music to the top of international pop charts.
