Watch Airbourne’s Exclusive uDiscover Music Interview From Ramblin’ Man 2019
Hailing from Warrnamboul in Victoria, Airbourne are part of a proud Aussie hard rock lineage which also includes AC/DC and Rose Tattoo.
No-nonsense hard rock outfit Airbourne are not a band to beat around the bush. Indeed, the band’s mission at Ramblin’ Man 2019 was simply to provide audience the most rip-roarin’ show of the weekend.
The Australian quartet proceeded to do just that, with frontman Joel O’Keeffe launching beers (and later himself) into the crowd, not to mention letting fly with arguably the most relentless rock’ n’ roll set of the three-day festival.
Known for their constant touring, Airbourne are known for living the rock’n’roll lifestyle to the max and in this exclusive uDiscover Music Ramblin’ Man interview – which you can see in full below – they did reveal a little about the drink that keeps them going.
“We’re drinking Dragon’s Blood”, Joel O’Keeffe told uDiscover Music’s Kylie Olsson. “It keeps us pumping and it’s got lots of stuff in it. But you can’t buy it, we have to make it ourselves. It’s got a dragon in it, for one thing.”
Hailing from Warrnamboul in Victoria, Airbourne are part of a proud Aussie hard rock lineage which also includes AC/DC and Rose Tattoo. They don’t take themselves too seriously, but they do give their music their all. Their most recent album, 2016’s Breakin’ Outta Hell (released through Spinefarm) was a UK Top 10 success and the band recently announced they were working on their (as yet unnamed) fifth album in Nashville. Not surprisingly, given their lifestyle, the band are rarely happier than when they’re raising hell at a festival such as Ramblin’ Man.
“It’s a crazy vibe and it’s a really good day out [at Ramblin’ Man]”, drummer Ryan O’Keeffe chips in. “You don’t feel the pressure of playing one of the European festivals, like Wacken or wherever. It’s just play some great rock’n’roll, have a fee beers afterwards and catch up with a few friends.”
“It’s all about energy for us”, Joel O’Keeffe adds. “We have no rules or the road or anything because we literally tour all the time. We’ve got a keg machine on the bus for beer and a nice little cocktail bar – we’ve got everything we need!”
Feeling lucky? Here’s your chance to win a guitar signed by many of the artists who played at Ramblin’ Man this year, including Airbourne, Allman Betts Band, Foreigner and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
