Actor Dennis Quaid Joins Country Trio Midland In New ‘Mr. Lonely’ Clip
The video was co-directed by the band’s Cameron Duddy, an MTV Video Music Award winner for his work with Bruno Mars.
Celebrated actor Dennis Quaid, an accomplished singer-songwriter in his own right, joins Grammy-nominated and ACM Award-winning country trio Midland in the new video for the group’s single ‘Mr. Lonely.’ The amusing clip was co-directed by band member and accomplished video director Cameron Duddy along with his brother Colin. The Midland bassist won an MTV Video Music Award for helming Bruno Mars’ clip for ‘Locked Out Of Heaven.’
Filmed on the set of Netflix’s sitcom series The Ranch, the video for ‘Mr. Lonely’ (which complements the linedancing-themed promo revealed earlier) sees Quaid’s character getting ready for a night out, to the strains of Midlake’s breakthrough hit ‘Drinkin’ Problem.’ He then gets involved in some eyebrow-raising barroom scenes.
The song, which is a preview of Midland’s much-anticipated follow-up to 2017’s successful debut album On The Rocks, was “most added” at country radio on release. It climbed 58-45 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart for the week of 27 April.
Meanwhile, the band’s headlining Electric Rodeo Tour resumes in Detroit on 2 May, with a date at Nashville’s “Mother Church of Country Music,” the Ryman Auditorium, on 5 May. They have US shows booked all the way to the end of August, after which Midland visit Australia for two nights in late September.
They’ll return to the UK, where they made a huge hit at the 2018 C2C Festival and their own dates late last year, for a run of six concerts in December. These culminate in a night at the Roundhouse in London on the 8th, with their European visit currently set to end at the Melkweg in Amsterdam on 10 December.
Midland are also among the featured guests on Brooks & Dunn’s new Reboot album of re-recordings, and appeared with them on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on 9 April to perform ‘Boot Scootin’ Boogie.’
