ABBA Radio Channel Starts Exclusive Limited Run On SiriusXM
The channel is described as ‘a destination for listeners to have the full ABBA experience.’
A limited-run ABBA channel has debuted on SiriusXM. ABBA Radio began on November 5 via satellite on channel 54 and the SXM App.
The channel is available on the satellite radio and broadcaster’s channel 54 until November 14, and on the SXM App until December 4. The outlet marks the arrival of the Swedish pop superstars’ first album for 40 years, Voyage, which is heading for chart summits worldwide following its release last Friday (November 5).
Described as “a destination for listeners to have the full ABBA experience,” the channel will feature music from the rich musical history and current triumphant return of Benny Andersson, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Agnetha Faltskog, and Björn Ulvaeus. Andersson and Ulvaeus will also share song-by-song insights on the Voyage album and offer a glimpse into their upcoming live stage show ABBA Voyage, which opens on May 27, 2022 at London’s purpose-built, 3,000-capacity ABBA Arena.
Benny and Bjorn will reveal their memories of ABBA’s early years and their work before the group’s formation. Listeners can also expect to hear solo work from members of the group and cover versions of the best-loved hits in their peerless catalog.
Scott Greenstein, president and chief content officer of SiriusXM, says: “With the help of Björn and Benny, we are able to take some of the world’s most enduring music and bring it to life again in one place for ABBA’s legion of fans. ABBA’s exuberant and iconic sound has inspired generations of pop music lovers around the world, and on this special channel we give listeners access to that rich catalog as well as celebrate their much anticipated new studio album.”
ABBA Radio is available to SiriusXM subscribers in their car and on their phone and connected devices at home with the SXM App. Streaming access is included for most subscribers. More information on ways to listen is available here.
