45th Anniversary Reissue Series To Honour Soulful Legacy Of Barry White

The soulful legacy of singer, writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Barry White will be honoured from 13 April, with the first two titles in a Mercury/UMe series of releases of his classic work.

The series will commemorate the 45th anniversary of his first release on 20th Century Records, and will start with two remastered retrospectives. Love’s Theme: The Best Of The 20th Century Records Singles is a single-CD compilation featuring 21 of White’s best-loved hits,; a double vinyl LP edition will also be available including the bonus track ‘Satin Soul’ by Love Unlimited Orchestra

Alongside it is the three-CD, 46-track The Complete 20th Century Records Singles (1973-1979), which will appear in a specially-designed box, with the three discs packaged in individual wallets. Both of the new packages will contain expansive liner notes and track details. Both the physical and digital collections can be pre-ordered now, with digital downloads receiving the first in a series of instant grat downloads to be rolled out up to release day.

Then on 20 April, Mercury/UMe will release The 20th Century Records Singles (1973-1975), a ten-disc box set of seven-inch vinyl 45s replicating White’s original single releases of the period. They’ll be housed in a two-piece rigid box, with each disc in a 20th Century Records sleeve with labels mirroring the originals, plus a four-page illustrated book. The vinyl set features newly- remastered audio from the 20th Century Records master tapes, cut at Abbey Road Studios.

White’s unique and instantly distinctive catalogue generated worldwide record sales in excess of 100 million. White was further recognised with two Grammy Awards, 106 gold albums and 41 platinum albums worldwide. His trove of signature hits, such as ‘Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe,’ ‘You’re The First, The Last, My Everything,’ Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up’ and ‘You See The Trouble With Me’ helped him to land 20 gold and ten platinum singles around the world.
