Tate McRae and Josh Ross are the top nominees for the 2025 Juno Awards, which were announced on Feb. 11, with five nods each. Other notable nominees include The Weeknd and Shawn Mendes, who have four nominations apiece.
All artists are up for Single of the Year (Ross’ “Single Again,” Mendes’ “Why Why Why,” McRae’s “exes,” and The Weeknd and Playboi Carti’s “Timeless”) and arguably the biggest category of the night, Artist of the Year. Ross and McRae are both contenders for Album of the Year, for Complicated and Think Later, respectively. Ross’ Complicated is also up for Country Album of the Year, while McRae’s Think Later and Mendes’ Shawn are nominated for Pop Album of the Year. The Weeknd is also up for Songwriter of the Year alongside Jessie Reyez, whose “Shut Up” single received a Rap Single of the Year nod.
Elsewhere, the fan-voted TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award nominations include Ross, McCrae, The Weeknd, Mendes, bbno$, Dean Brody, Jade Eagleson, Karan Aujla, Les Cowboys Fringents Les Disques, and Preston Pablo.
The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences — the non-profit organization behind the Juno Awards — also announced that Grammy-winning Toronto producer Boi-1da will be honored at the 2025 Junos with an International Achievement Award, while singer-songwriter Sarah Harmer will receive the Humanitarian Award. At the same time, Sum 41 will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The rock band also scored nominations for Group of the Year and Rock Album of the Year for Heaven :x: Hell.
The nominations were unveiled by The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences ahead of the Juno Awards on March 30 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. The 2025 ceremony, to be produced by Insight Productions, will air live on the CBC network and will be hosted by singer Michael Bublé.
