Jessie Reyez Steals The Show And Daddy Yankee Wins Big At 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards
Daddy Yankee took home seven awards, including Billboard Latin Song of the Decade award for ‘Despacito’ alongside Luis Fonsi.
The 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards, held on October 21, proved to be a star-studded night of remarkable performances and big wins by some of the most popular Latin artists, songwriters, and producers in music, including Puerto Rican singer and rapper Bad Bunny, reggaeton legend Daddy Yankee, Farruko, and more.
Jessie Reyez stole the show as she took the stage at Florida’s BB&T Center with Mexican trio Reik to perform their emotional collaboration “Lo Intenté Todo.” Illuminated by the warm hue of the set, Reyez formed a captivating connection with Reik frontman, Jesús Navarro, leaving a memorable impression for their first time performing the track together.
Other performers included Ozuna, Carlos Vives, Pitbull, Maluma, Jesse & Joy, Sech, and more.
Daddy Yankee also made an appearance with Anuel AA, Kendo Kaponi, and Sisqó to perform their latest mega-collaboration “Don Don.” Following the performance, an official remix of the track with Sisqó was released via Ingrooves Music Group and Republic Records, along with Daddy Yankee’s El Cartel Records.
He was one of the most awarded artists of the night, winning seven of his 12 nominations, tying with Bad Bunny for most wins. His hit single “Con Calma” with Snow made for six wins, including Hot Latin Song of the Year, Airplay Song of the Year, Vocal Event Hot Latin Song of the Year, Digital Song of the Year, Streaming Song of the Year, and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year.
Daddy Yankee’s seventh award of the night was a milestone achievement as he took home the Latin Song of the Decade award for “Despacito,” alongside Luis Fonsi.
Elsewhere, Jennifer Lopez’s “It’s My Party” tour was awarded Tour of the Year and Katy Perry was crowned Crossover Artist of the Year.
The 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony was originally meant to air live on Telemundo from the Mandalay Bay Events Center on April 23, however, due to COVID-19 related preventions, the event was postponed and rescheduled to be held at a different location.
