New Single, Major UK Shows For Mary J. Blige
Mary J. Blige has announced a new UK single and three major shows in England in July. The multi-million-selling soul queen will follow her recent performance with friend and collaborator Sam Smith at the Grammy Awards with a March 30 impact date for ‘Doubt.’
The song, co-written and produced by Sam Romans, comes from her widely-praised ‘The London Sessions’ album, which she created from scratch with a team of top-level British talents including Smith, Emeli Sandé, Disclosure and Naughty Boy, after arriving in the UK in July.
The record attracted a raft of four and five-star reviews in the Daily Telegraph, the Times, Q magazine and many other publications. ‘The London Sessions’ debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B chart, her tenth such bestseller, and opened at No. 9 on the Billboard 200. “It’s all about the London music scene,” said Blige in the lead-up to the album’s release, “and I’m so excited to have been part of it, to record my album. The songs are fun, therapeutic and soulful. This is a beautiful change for me and I’m proud of what we have done here.”
Blige was recently in the UK to give one of her fans the “surprise of a lifetime” as part of MasterCard’s Priceless Surprises campaign, in support of the 2015 BRIT Awards. Later in the year, the nine-time Grammy winner will return to the country for a special intimate #PricelessSurprises gig for Mastercard card holders and competition winners.
In the meantime, Mary J. has announced the following three shows:
Thursday July 2: Manchester O2 Apollo
Friday July 3: Birmingham Barclaycard Arena
Saturday July 4: Wireless Festival, London Finsbury Park
