Stephan Moccio Releases Solo Piano Version Of ‘Earned It’
Stephan Moccio has released a new piano version of ‘Earned It’ following The Weeknd’s performance of the song during his Super Bowl show.
Grammy and Oscar-nominated songwriter and composer Stephan Moccio has released a new solo piano version of ‘Earned It’, which he co-wrote and co-produced with The Weeknd for the 2015 blockbuster film Fifty Shades of Grey. The release of the single follows The Weeknd’s performance of the song during his Super Bowl half-time show.
Miley Cyrus gave an emotional performance of her hit single ‘Wrecking Ball’, another song Stephan Moccio co-composed, during the pre-Super Bowl show. The pop star broke down in tears while performing the song and explained, “I wear a lot of glitter and I wear a lot of armour and I also wear my heart on my sleeve, and it gets broken a lot.”
“I itched to return to the piano”
The single release of Stephan Moccio’s solo piano version of ‘Earned It’ follows the release of his solo piano album for Decca Records, Tales of Solace, which was released in August 2020. “I itched to return to the piano,” explained Stephan Moccio. “I like the collaborative side of writing pop songs but I wanted to make something on my own.” Moccio combined his classical training and mastery of melody on Tales of Solace and created a peaceful and introspective album of piano meditations to soothe the soul. He said, “I chose the title of the album very carefully. Every piece tells a story.”

Stephan Moccio has announced he will continue his partnership with Decca Records by releasing his full catalogue of archived works. He will release one single and one EP every month – a total of 53 tracks throughout the year. The collection includes pieces composed in 2005, 2010 and 2012, remastered by the world-renowned engineer Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, and features Moccio’s continuous commitment and dedication to the piano. “I’ve been playing the piano since I was three,” said Stephan Moccio. “It’s my best friend.”
