Lady Antebellum Heading For ‘Heart Break’ With New Album
After their solo projects of last year, chart-topping country trio Lady Antebellum will return with their sixth regular studio album Heart Break for Capitol Nashville on 9 June. The group, who have worldwide record sales of more than 18 million and nine No. 1 country hits to their name, will tour the new release in America and around the world.
To make the album, Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott rented a house in Florida and lived and worked under the same roof, then moving to a second retreat in southern California. “When we started working on this record, the goal was to give ourselves some space from the day to day,” says Scott.
The album was produced by busbee, who also oversaw Maren Morris’ breakthrough Hero and Keith Urban‘s Ripcord. Lady Antebellum will embark on the You Look Good World Tour on 26 May, featuring 65 shows in six countries, including South Africa for the first time.
“Surrounding ourselves in a new environment with sunny beaches and warm weather really helped free our minds to focus solely on our art. We took some of our favourite writers and other writers we hadn’t worked with before to a new inspiring backdrop, where we were able to just write and soak up the journey. And it was on our first trip in Florida when we wrote Heart Break that we felt it all click.”
The first single from the set, the funky, upbeat ‘You Look Good,’ was released in mid-January and was performed by the trio at the recent Academy of Country Music Awards. It recently became their latest top ten hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, peaking at No. 9.
“Being together every day, living in a house together, that was the special ingredient this time,” continues Haywood. “And then in the studio, busbee added a whole new layer. He’s such an integral part of this new chapter for us.” Adds Kelley: “This record is really our story. They have a universal feel to them, but there’s a lot of our personal stories here.”
