Within Temptation Announce New Album ‘Resist’, European Tour Dates
Released through Spinefarm on 14 December, ‘Resist’ is the first fruit of the band’s new worldwide deal with Universal Music Group.
Within Temptation have announced the release of their new album Resist, which is released through Spinefarm Records on 14 December.
With 6 studio albums under their belt – Enter [1997], Mother Earth [2000], The Silent Force [2004], The Heart of Everything [2007], The Unforgiving [2011], Hydra [2014] – and more than 3.5 million record sales to their name, Within Temptation (led by Sharon den Adel and Robert Westerholt) are a genuine force to be reckoned with. Simply, one of the world’s most successful heavy rock groups.
Within Temptation’s Sharon den Adel: “We are beyond excited to have signed to [Universal Music], the biggest record label! Combining our strength with such a thriving, forward-looking force in the music industry, we are sure that we can make magic happen.”
The band has previously headlined all of the major festivals in Europe – Download, Hellfest, Wacken Open Air, Graspop and Woodstock Poland amongst other major events – and received numerous international awards, including a World Music Award, MTV Europe Music Awards, a Metal Hammer Award and many more.
Within Temptation’s 2014 release Hydra was a Top 10 album in ten different countries; hitting the #16 spot on the American Billboard chart, it was the band’s most successful US release to date, paving the way for a sold out tour. Bringing things right up to date, a headline European tour kicks off in October, consisting of 35 dates across 18 countries, with more shows around the globe to follow in 2019.
Their new album Resist reputedly marks a departure for the band; primed with 10 anthemic tracks and driven by grand melodies and dark hooks.
“Resist is a true milestone for us,” continues Sharon den Adel. “If it wasn’t for Resist, Within Temptation wouldn’t be here anymore.
“With this record, we’ve taken inspiration from modern music and given it a face – a very dark one. Sometimes it feels that today’s pop music lacks a rebellious edge. Our main goal was to collect pieces from sounds we did like then roughen the whole thing up as much as we could, allowing us to shape a new musical world that is heavier, dirtier and more futuristic than we’ve ever created before. Resist is our new take on metal; our way of giving a fresh lease of life to the rebellious edge of modern music.”

Different style of music to their usual style ok but slightly too booming if anything all music heard so far has no slower more gentle sound maybe the downfall of the album I’ve advance purchased it as it’s not released till December the 14 th and to be honest it’s thd first tour that the Audience don’t know the lyrics to most of the songs on the tour they only play 5 new songs and the rest of the track list is the classic excellent music which no band can rival as they are by far the best band in the universe with the best singer il give the album 7 out of 10 on the opinion of tracks released or heard at this stage but This is only my opinion judge it for yourself
