Woodstock 50th Anniversary Festival Set To Take Place On Original 1969 Site
The legendary original festival featured Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival and more.
A 50th Anniversary Festival is set to take place next year on the same site where the iconic Woodstock Festival took place in 1969.
The original Woodstock was held on Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel, in upstate New York from 15 – 18 August 1969 with legendary sets from Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Crobsy Stills Nash And Young and Sly And The Family Stone.
Now, the town of Bethel is planning the celebratory event, which will take place across three days from 16-18 August 2019.
‘Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival: Celebrating the golden anniversary at the historic site of the 1969 Woodstock festival’ will feature musical performers as well as TED-style talks. The line-up for the event is yet to be announced.
“This pan-generational music, culture, and community event will be held at BWCA just 90 minutes from New York City,” reads an announcement on the festival’s official website.
“These three days of memorable experiences will include live performances from prominent and emerging artists spanning multiple genres and decades, and TED-style talks from leading futurists and retro-tech experts.
“Festival goers will also be able to visit the Museum at Bethel Woods, which tells the story of the 1960s through immersive media, interactive engagements, and artefacts from the 1969 festival, as well as experience the special 2019 exhibit We Are Golden: Reflections on the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock Festival and Aspirations for an Aquarian Future.”
Speaking in a statement, Darlene Fedun, CEO of Bethel Woods, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Live Nation and INVNT to produce Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival. Fifty years ago, people gathered peacefully on our site inspired to change the world through music. As the stewards of this historic site, we remain committed to preserving this rich history and spirit, and to educating and inspiring new generations to contribute positively to the world through music, culture, and community.”

I was 16 in ’69 from Surrey, B.C.
Didn’t make it to Woodstock.
Here’s an opportunity to make up for that.

I was there . Still have the tickets i purchased in advance. Hope this ‘reunion’ will provide more bathroom facilities. The original had about 3 portable toilets…and the lines!!!!
