The Rolling Stones Handpick Tracks For New Compilation ‘Confessin’ The Blues’
Confessin’ The Blues collects together the greatest ever bluesmen, such as Chuck Berry, B.B King, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters.
Rock icons The Rolling Stones have personally handpicked the tracks for a new, in-depth blues collection entitled Confessin’ The Blues which they have curated with Universal Music Group and BMG. The collection will be released on 9 November and is available to order now.
The Stones have always been the biggest champions of the blues, even taking their name from the Muddy Waters’ track ‘Rollin’ Stone’ – so who better to have hand-picked a special compilation album of the music that has inspired them throughout their career.
Confessin’ The Blues collects together the greatest ever bluesmen, such as Chuck Berry, B.B King, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James and Muddy Waters and provides a perfect education to the genre. The Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood also hand painted the cover art, which depicts the raw passion and emotion the blues artists channelled into their music.
Reflecting on his love for the genre, lead singer Mick Jagger, told Ireland’s RTE News: “The first Muddy Waters album that was really popular was Muddy Waters At Newport, which was the first album I ever bought”.
His bandmate Keith Richards, added: “If you don’t know the blues… there’s no point in picking up the guitar and playing rock and roll or any other form of popular music.”
Confessin’ The Blues is available as a 5 x 10” vinyl bookpack, as two individual double-disc vinyl sets (Vol. 1 and Vol. 2) and as a 2CD set.
As such big supporters of the genre, the band and labels have decided that 10% of the net receipts from the sale of this album (with a minimum of £0.65 (2CD) / £1.25 (2LP) / £3.00 (Bookpack) UK pounds sterling) will be donated to Willie Dixon’s Blues Heaven Foundation, a non-profit organisation registered in the United States.
Jacqueline Dixon, president of the foundation, said: “We are extremely honoured, grateful and humbled that Willie Dixon’s Blues Heaven Foundation has been included in such an astonishing project.”
Confessin’ The Blues is out on 9 November and can be bought here.
