Justin Hayward, Steve Hackett Set For Inaugural On The Blue Cruise
The Moody Blues’ Justin Hayward, former Genesis star Steve Hackett and Alan Parsons are just a few of the legendary classic rock names announced for the inaugural On The Blue Cruise, set to sail from Miami, Florida on 10 February 2019.
The five-night music cruise’s inaugural event is also set to feature The Zombies, Procol Harum, Wishbone Ash, POCO and Dave Mason and The Orchestra, with the latter outfit also featuring former members of ELO.
The floating festival of music will set sail from Miami, Florida aboard the Caribbean cruise ship ‘Mariner Of The Seas’ and will visit Nassau/Paradise Island, Bahamas and the private island of Labadee, with the cruise concluding when the ship returns to Miami on 15 February.
Procol Harum, Al Stewart, Vanilla Fudge, Colin Blunstone, Danny Seraphine, Rick Derringer, Randy Hansen and The Young Dubliners will also play sets. The organisers have confirmed that further artists will be announced in due course.
Justin Hayward is set to host the event and the event organisers On the Blue – who are also responsible for many other similar seagoing events – said he will build his sets from his solo songs as well as his five decades with the Moody Blues. “Attendees can expect some familiar faces from Hayward’s Moody Blues past to join him onstage, along with a variety of classic rock legends,” they noted.
The live entertainment will take place across two stages, while there will also be a bungee trampoline experience, the FlowRider surf simulator and waterslides.
“Cruisers will get to experience the new Mariner of the Seas, providing more ways to play, delicious new dining concepts and a few surprises to thrill even the boldest cruisers,” organizers said in an official statement. “This is going to be a ‘wow’ ship with some of the finest music and events featuring some of the greats in classic rock.”
Tickets for On The Blue will go on sale from March 14 at 1pm ET from the cruise ship’s official website.
