Kaiser Surprise At Glastonbury
Modern rockers The 1975 were among those acts getting in early on the Glastonbury Festival action last night (Thursday 26), but the festival will be officially up and running this morning with an unadvertised performance on the Other Stage by the chart-topping Kaiser Chiefs.
The Leeds band also play tonight (Friday) on the John Peel Stage, on both occasions playing tracks from their current, UK No. 1 album ‘Education, Education, Education & War.’ “If you have pals down at [Glastonbury],” tweeted band frontman Ricky Wilson, “text them that Kaiser Chiefs will also be opening the Other Stage at 11am.”
Fellow Fiction label chart-toppers Elbow are also in Glasto action on the main Pyramid Stage this evening. Among the label’s other performers at the festival are Nick Mulvey, formerly of the Mercury Music Prize-nominated Portico Quartet, and English power pop five-piece Spector.
The Kaisers and The 1975, incidentally, will also share the bill on an ‘MTV Crashes Plymouth’ show at Plymouth Hoe on July 15.
