Ringo Starr Prepares To ‘Give More Love’ With 19th Studio Album

Published on

Ringo Starr will release his 19th studio album, GIVE MORE LOVE, on 15 September via UMe. The CD and digital formats will be followed a week later by an LP edition.

Starr, who turns 77 today (7 July), recorded the album at his home studio with a remarkable line-up of guests. Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Edgar Winter and Steve Lukather are all on ‘We’re On The Road Again,’ while ‘Laughable’ was co-written with Peter Frampton. He performs on the track along with Benmont Tench, Timothy B. Schmit, Richard Page and Amy Keys.

McCartney is also on ‘Show Me The Way,’ co-written and performed with Lukather. ‘Speed Of Sound,’ co-written with Richard Marx, features Lukather, Frampton and Nathan East; ‘King Of The Kingdom’ includes Winter and Dave Stewart.

The album also has ‘Electricity,’ co-written with Glen Ballard and featuring Walsh and Don Was; Stewart co-writes and performs ‘So Wrong For So Long,’ Was and Winter are on ‘So Wrong For So Long,’ co-written and performed with Gary Nicholson, who also co-wrote the album’s title track, which features Schmidt, Richard Page and Gregg Bissonette.

The CD edition of GIVE MORE LOVE will feature four bonus tracks. Versions of ‘You Can’t Fight Lightning,’ Ringo’s 1974 US No. 1 ‘Photograph’ and of ‘Don’t Pass Me By,’ which he sang on The Beatles‘ self-titled “White Album” of 1968, are collaborations based on performanes for his 2016 Peace & Love birthday event. The other, of his 1972 hit ‘Back Off Boogaloo,’ is based on the original recording Starr made when he wrote the song, which he discovered recently while moving house.

This year’s Peace & Love salute will again take place as Ringo celebrates his birthday at Capitol Records with family, friends and fans, as satellite events take place all over the world. Many of them can be streamed live at Starr’s Facebook page.

Ringo and his All-Starr Band will be back on the road for their next North American tour in October, in the line-up that has toured together since 2012. It features Lukather, Page and Bissonette along with Todd Rundgren, Gregg Rolie and Warren Hamm.
