Watch Robyn’s Expressive New Video For ‘Honey’
Directed by Max Vitali, it opens with the blurry close-up of the Swedish electro-star before revealing a room of sweat-soaked dancers writhing to the music.
Robyn has shared the first visual from her comeback album Honey, for the title track of the same name.
Directed by Max Vitali who also helmed the video for ‘Call Your Girlfriend’, it opens with the blurry close-up of the Swedish electro-star before revealing a room of sweat-soaked dancers writhing to the music.
And because this is Robyn, this is not your typical “club” scene, but instead of diverse cast of dancers and couples who answered the singer’s casting call for “modern, diverse, interesting and liberated couples and relationships, heterosexual, LGBTQ+, gender non-conforming and polyamorous” who, “love to dance to music in their own way”.
After sharing the video, she took to social media to thank all of the dancers:
“I want to say thank you to all of you who came from near and far and danced with me. This video is for you and everyone who found a piece of heaven on the dancefloor.”
The video for ‘Honey’ was filmed in London and is described in a statement as being a “testament to love, sensuality and the power of a party”.
Robyn put out the casting call back in September when she first announced the album, her first in eight years following 2010’s Body Talk. Honey finally arrived in October with much fanfare, and the singer also recently covered the beloved holiday track, Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’ for BBC Radio 1.
It’s been a triumphant return for the pop auteur, with critics and fans alike praising the album and Honey hitting the Billboard 200 chart in November.
She will also be hitting the road to support the new album, with a global tour including playing the Red Bull Music Festival Los Angeles.
The in-demand artist also announced a capsule collection with Swedish sports brand Björn Borg set to arrive spring of 2020.
