Gaslight Anthem Confirm Fifth Album
New Jersey rock favourites the Gaslight Anthem have confirmed the release details for their follow-up to 2012’s top three album ‘Handwritten,’ and new touring plans.
‘Get Hurt,’ their fifth studio set, will be released by Virgin EMI on August 18 (a day later in North America, on Island). It was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville and produced by Mike Crossey, whose credits include The 1975, Arctic Monkeys and Jake Bugg. The new record is said to be heavier than their previous work, but more intimate, drawing on their punk, Americana and folk influences.
‘Handwritten’ reached No. 2 in the UK and Germany, No. 3 in the US and charted in the top five around Europe. The band have US dates this week and another run of American shows in September, after which they’ll embark on an extensive European tour from October 29. The itinerary visits Germany, Belgium, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland and Holland before arriving in the UK on November 17. The British dates include one at Alexandra Palace in London on the 19th.
