Alice Cooper To Reunite With Original Band Members For Nashville Show
Alice Cooper is due to reunite with three members of his original band for a special performance in Nashville in May 2017.
The legendary rocker’s May 14 show at the Tennessee Performing Arts Centre’s Andrew Jackson Hall is scheduled to include a “mini-set” during which Cooper will be joined by guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith.
The fifth member of the original Alice Cooper Band, guitarist Glenn Buxton died in 1997. However, the remaining personnel later reunited with Cooper to perform for their induction to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2011. This much-publicised event led to the trio contributing to Cooper’s Welcome 2 My Nightmare album.
A further reunion then took place when Bruce, Dunaway and Smith teamed up with Cooper to play a set at the Good Records store in Dallas, Texas on 6 October 2015. Two songs from this set, ‘I’m Eighteen’ and ‘Is It My Body’ were later released as a special seven-inch single as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday event on 25 November 2015.
Cooper and his former band mates have since co-written new songs together and Bruce, Dunaway and Smith have performed on tracks mooted for inclusion on Cooper’s forthcoming studio album. Overseen by long-time producer Bob Ezrin (and still untitled at the time of writing), this new record is scheduled for release during the summer of 2017.
Though Alice Cooper is forever associated with hard-driving Detroit rock and roll, he has enjoyed writing and performing in Nashville in recent years.
“We’ve recorded much of my last album and my new one in Nashville and it’s such a great music town”, he says.
“With so many musicians, songwriter and producer friends here, as well as great rock fans who come to our concerts, it’s special to be performing with Neal, Michael and Dennis in Nashville for them.”
