Watch Bonnie Raitt’s New BB King Tribute

Viewers to PBS on New Year’s Eve will witness a series of unique performances from the 2016 Hall of Fame nominees’ concert in the long-running Austin City Limits series. From that show, here is one new inductee, Bonnie Raitt, on stage with guest Gary Clark Jr to pay tribute to another of the latest honorees, the late and great B.B. King, on ‘The Thrill Is Gone.’

In recognition of three artists who’ve helped make the show what it is today, Raitt and King were inducted into the ACL Hall of Fame along with Kris Kristofferson. At the third annual ACL Hall of Fame Inductions & Celebration show, recorded on 12 October and hosted by Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally, other performers included Willie Nelson, Rodney Crowell, Mavis Staples, Taj Mahal and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.

The tribute to Kristofferson included Crowell’s rendition of one of his classic songs, ‘Help Me Make It Through The Night’ (picture: Scott Hoffman) and Nelson’s version of another, ‘Me and Bobby McGee.’ Staples joined Raitt to perform Bob Dylan’s ‘Well Well Well’ and both artists were accompanied by Taj Mahal on Bonnie’s ‘Thing Called Love.’ Gibbons then did B.B.’s ‘You Upset Me Baby’ before Raitt and Clark joined forces, as we see in the clip.

For the finale, the complete musical cast came together to revive ‘Every Day I Have The Blues,’ which King performed when he made his first appearance on ACL in 1983. For more information about the show and all things Austin City Limits, go to acltv.com.
