BRIT-Winning Ella Eyre Announces Debut Single
Not many artists have a BRIT Award on the mantelpiece before they’ve even released their first solo single. 20-year-old Londoner Ella Eyre does, for her vocals on Rudimental’s 2013 drum ‘n’ bass chart-topper ‘Waiting All Night.’ You might remember that she joined them on that triumphant BRITS night to perform a mash-up of the track with Bastille’s ‘Pompeii.’ Now Ella’s announced that her long-awaited solo debut single is coming soon. ‘If I Go’ will be released by Virgin/EMI on July 6, produced by Jarred Rogers, whose credits include Lana Del Rey, Tinie Tempah and Mark Ronson. Her first album will follow later in the year.
“I’ve always been into punchy, loud songs – passionate, with a message,” says Ella. “And I’ve always been really lyrical – I love the idea that someone has felt the same as me. I love honesty, brutality and rawness.”
Ms Eyre, who was also runner-up for the Critics Choice BRIT Award and No.2 in the BBC Sound of 2014 poll, has loads of live appearances lined up from June onwards, not just in the UK and Ireland but in other parts of Europe. She headlines at the Electric in Brixton on June 12, plays at Glastonbury on June 28, the Wireless Festival in London on July 4, Wireless Birmingham on July 6, and she’s at the V Festival on August 16 and 17.
