Iggy, Damned, Buzzcocks, Ant For Isle Of Wight
Iggy Pop, Adam Ant, the Damned and Buzzcocks are among the new names just added to the 2016 Isle of Wight Festival. They will help to mark the 40th anniversary of punk at the first major UK festival of next summer, on a bill that also includes Queen + Adam Lambert, Stereophonics and Faithless.
The IoW Festival takes place over the long weekend of 9-12 June in Seaclose Park, Newport. The punk element will be further enhanced by the Godfathers, featuring brothers Peter and Chris Coyne, and five-piece all-girl band the Sex Pissed Dolls.
The new additions give such iconic British punk acts as the Damned and Buzzcocks the chance to celebrate their own 40th anniversaries next year with high-profile festival performances, while Iggy Pop’s presence will enhance the event with one of the true forefathers of punk. Adam Ant, for his part, will perform the entire Kings of the Wild Frontier album, released by Adam & the Ants in late 1980, and the UK’s bestselling album of 1981.
More acts will be added to the festival bill at a later date. Tickets for the full weekend cost £195, with a student rate of £175 and teenagers at £145. All of the ticket, travel and camping/accommodation options are available to view at the event website here.
