Directed by Hannah Lux Davis, the video continues the theme of showing Grande as a divine being, gliding through the chaos of daily life.
Fresh off the release of her breakup single released this week, ‘Thank U, Next’, Ariana Grande shared her newest visual off her No.1 album Sweetener, for the uplifting anthem ‘Breathin’
Directed by Hannah Lux Davis, who also helmed the videos for ‘Side To Side’ and ‘Bang Bang’, the video continues the theme of showing Grande as a divine being, gliding through the chaos of daily life.
On her latest hit album, Grande explores both sonic and visual boundaries, with each new video allowing the 25-year-old pop star to flex her creative muscles and star in a number of stunning visuals.
‘Breathin’ follows her iconic ‘God Is A Woman’ video, and is the fourth video off her Sweetener release, including ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ and ‘The Light Is Coming’ featuring Nicki Minaj.
Grande made waves earlier in the week, after the surprise drop her hit song ‘Thank U, Next’, which addresses her breakup with ex-fiancé Pete Davidson as well as her former exes Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, and the late Mac Miller. Grande was praised for crafting a mature ode to her past relationships, and she performed the track on the Ellen show on Wednesday.
In less than two weeks after Sweetener dropped, the album shot to the No. 1 spot on Billboard 200 and was met with wide acclaim. While she’s done a handful of performances at awards shows and a few intimate events, fans are greatly anticipating Grande’s 2019 tour to support the album, which kicks off next March and will include emerging pop act Normani.
The singer was also named Billboard’s 2018 Woman Of The Year on Tuesday, 6 November.
“Ariana Grande is a star on her own terms, never bending to any particular musical trend or path in the industry,” says Ross Scarano, Billboard’s VP of content. “Certain in her convictions, she consistently stands up for herself and her decisions in a world that often isn’t hospitable to that sort of strength in young women. She’s got guts, she’s making some of the best music of her career, and she’s absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year.”
