Nirvana’s ‘You Know You’re Right’ Features in New ‘The Last Of Us’ Trailer
The second season of the series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey premieres on the network on April 13th.

Nirvana’s 2002 track “You Know You’re Right” features in a new trailer for the forthcoming second season of HBO’s The Last Of Us.
The trailer is the second glimpse at the new installment of the acclaimed drama. The Last Of Us follows wisened smuggler Joel (Pedro Pascal) as he escorts a teenager, Ellie (Bella Ramsey), across a post-apocalyptic, pandemic-ridden United States. The first season, which premiered in 2023, quickly became HBO’s most-watched debut season with an average 32 million viewers per episode—it was nominated for 24 Emmys and three Golden Globes.
The new teaser follows a first trailer shared last September, which also used a song from a well-loved ‘90s grunge group as its soundtrack. “Future Days” by Pearl Jam—which features prominently in the 2020 sequel to the 2013 PlayStation game the TV show is based on—anchored the clip, which collages clips of Joel teaching Ellie to pick out a tune on guitar. A description for the trailer read: “After five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”
Released in 2002 as part of a greatest hits collection, “You Know You’re Right” is the last song the group recorded with Cobain before his 1994 death. It’s far from the first time Nirvana’s music has been featured in film and television—most recently, the track appeared twice in Matt Reeves’ 2022 version of The Batman. In a 2021 interview with Gizmodo, Reeves said the song heavily influenced the development of his take on Bruce Wayne—Paul Dano, who plays The Riddler in the film, also said he drew inspiration from the track for his performance.
The new season of The Last Of Us premieres on Sunday, April 13 at 9 PM EST.
