Katy Perry Teases New Album With Forthcoming ‘Woman’s World’
The track will premiere on July 11, and the video will arrive on July 12.
Katy Perry is kicking off a new pop era this summer, beginning with the release of her new single, “Woman’s World,” on Thursday, July 11, at 7:00 PM ET/ 4:00 PM PT.
The official video will premiere the morning of July 12. Today, the global pop superstar unveiled the single’s bold cover art, which was shot by acclaimed British photographer Jack Bridgland, and a snippet of the song on her social media. “Woman’s World” is the first single from Katy’s forthcoming album. Fans can pre-save the single and pre-order the CD single or 7-inch vinyl editions now.
With a cumulative 115 billion streams alongside worldwide sales of over 70 million adjusted albums and 143 million tracks, Katy is one of the best-selling musical artists of all time. She’s one of only five recording artists in RIAA history to gain entry to the elite 100 Million Certified Songs club.
On Friday, September 20, Katy will headline the sold-out Rock in Rio in Brazil, marking her first performance at the Rio de Janeiro festival since 2015.
Last we heard from Katy was in May when her hit single “Roar” hit four billion YouTube views. Reaching that impressive number made “Roar” the most-viewed video of any female artist on the platform.
For those who haven’t seen it, the video shows Perry stranded on a jungle island after a plane crash, learning to fend for herself after her egotistical male companion is almost immediately mauled by a tiger. Her position as queen of the jungle is won after she lures the tiger with a cat toy made out of feathers and challenges it to a roaring contest. Having won, she deems the tiger Kitty Purry, which was the name of Perry’s real cat at the time.
“Roar” spent two weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 200 when it was released in 2013 as a single off the album Prism. The album itself topped the charts for a week, thanks to hits like “Roar” alongside “Dark Horse” and “Unconditionally.” In 2017, the song was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which made Perry the first artist to have three Diamond-certified singles in the U.S., joining “Firework” and “Dark Horse.”
