David Bowie, Rod Stewart, and Ronnie Wood, To Star On ‘The R&B Scene’
The new collection is set to arrive on August 9.
Decca Records has announced The R&B Scene, which features early recordings from David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, and more. The collection is set to arrive on August 9.
The R&B Scene brings together 24 remarkable tracks, virtually all of them much sought after on original Decca/Deram 7” singles. This reissue is pressed on color vinyl for the first time and contains a four-sided information sheet, replicating original album CD package notes.
The British 1960s Rhythm & Blues music scene was like no other, having borrowed from the blues and rock & roll, producing a sound that became a global success.
This collection includes early recordings by David Bowie (Davie Jones and The King Bees), Rod Stewart, and Ronnie Wood (The Birds), as well as many artists who passed through the ranks of Alexis Korner’s cornerstone of the British blues explosion, Blues Incorporated (their included recording features future Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie).
These include Jimmy Page (who performs on Lulu’s R&B romp, “I’ll Come Running Over”), and The Graham Bond Organisation, featuring Bond, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker (both later of Cream) and much inspired and encouraged by Korner, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers.
