Disney Unveils New Teaser Trailer For ‘Moana 2’
Walt Disney Animated Studios has unveiled a teaser trailer for Moana 2, which stars Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson as Moana and demigod Maui.
Opening only in theaters on November 27, Moana 2 reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers.
After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, Moana 2 features music by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foaʻi, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.
Last year, to celebrate its 100th anniversary, Disney opened its vault to release a number of limited edition and uniquely colored vinyl albums from classic films. Those legendary records included Songs from Moana, Vaiana, Pocahontas, Sleeping Beauty, Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, and Cinderella.
Songs from Moana was released on wave break ocean blue colored vinyl. Songs on the soundtrack include “How Far I’ll Go,” “You’re Welcome,” and more. Additionally, the alternate title for the film, Vaiana was released on wave break ocean blue colored vinyl, too.
Songs from Pocahontas features classic favorites like “Listen With Your Heart,” “Colors of the Wind,” “Just Around the Riverbend,” and many, many more.
Moana follows in the footsteps of other classic Disney features like Pocahontas, which represented a brave step for the animation studio. Pocahontas might have been an epic love story in the grand Disney tradition, but it also dealt with the impact of colonialism and climate change while featuring a strong female lead character of color.
The studio called upon trusted composer Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin) and Disney newcomer Stephen Schwartz, who was hot property after writing the Broadway smash hits Wicked and Godspell.
