Ice Spice And Rema Team Up On Dreamy ‘Pretty Girl’
The new track follows Ice Spice being announced as musical guest for the new season of ‘SNL’
Reigning rap newcomer Ice Spice has teamed up with Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter Rema on the dreamy new song “Pretty Girl.”
“Haters super mad, we got them all livid/Thinking about my future, got you all in it/Shooting for the stars, the sky has no limit,” Ice raps over a glittering background, buoyed by an Afrobeat rhythm.
“Yeah, pretty girl, me no do kiss and tell,” Rema adds in his hook, reinforcing the wide-eyed, loved-up atmosphere of the track.
“Pretty Girl” follows Ice being confirmed as the musical guest for the premiere episode of the new season of SNL. The hip-hop it girl will make her debut appearance on the long-running comedy show on October 14.
That is the latest in big feats this year for the artist. Other recent achievements include winning the award for Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards and Best New Artist at the 2023 MTV VMAs. Meanwhile, her single “Deli” has become her third track to be certified gold by the RIAA, following “Munch (Feelin’ You)” and “In Ha Mood.”
Elsewhere, the rapper has teamed up with PinkPantheress on the platinum-certified “Boy’s A Liar Pt.2” and Nicki Minaj twice – first on a remix of “Princess Diana” and, later, on “Barbie World,” which appeared on the soundtrack for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie.
Ice Spice was recently profiled by Variety, where she discussed her relationship with recent collaborator Taylor Swift. “That’s my sis,” she called her.
Swift shared her own sentiments with the publication, writing, “I relate to Ice in many ways, but I think her dedication and focus is what blew me away from the very start,” in an email to Variety. “She’s extremely professional without being cold. Playful and fun without ever taking her eye off the prize.”
