Post Malone and 21 Savage’s ‘Rockstar’ Scores One Billion Views On YouTube
The 2017 track featured on Post’s second album ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys’
Post Malone’s global hit single “Rockstar (featuring 21 Savage)” has become the rapper’s latest music video to reach the milestone of one billion views on YouTube.
The track was originally released in 2017 as the lead singer from the star’s 2018 second album, Beerbongs & Bentleys. Upon its release, it reached the No.1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, where it spent eight weeks at the top – the longest run at No.1 for a hip-hop song in 2017.
It also rocketed to the top of the charts around the world, including in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and more. It has reached Diamond-certified status in the US and is currently four-times Platinum in the UK.
“Rockstar” went on to be nominated in the Record of the Year and Best Rap/Sung Performance categories at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, which were held in 2019. It was also nominated for awards at the 2018 American Music Awards, BET Hip-Hop Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, and MTV Europe Music Awards. It was victorious at the 2018 MTV VMAs, taking home Song Of The Year, and at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, winning Top Rap Song.
The track has been racking up achievements since 2017 and, in 2020, became only the second song ever to surpass two billion streams on Spotify. It has also broken the single-week streaming record on Apple Music, garnering over 25 million streams.
The single is Post’s third song to reach one billion views on YouTube so far. He has previously achieved the feat with “Congratulations (featuring. Quavo)” and the Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse song “Sunflower,” on which he collaborated with Swae Lee.
Post released his latest album Twelve Carat Toothache earlier this month (June 3). In addition to massive anthems “Cooped Up (featuring Roddy Ricch)” and “One Right Now (featuring The Weeknd),” the record boasts appearances from an all-star cast of guests, including Doja Cat, Fleet Foxes, Gunna, and The Kid LAROI.
