Calum Scott Shares Sophomore Album ‘Bridges,’ Captures Heartwarming Slices Of Life Music Video For ‘Heaven’
‘For me this new album is about sharing things I’ve never shared before and taking leaps that sometimes feel terrifying,’ Scott shared.
Ahead of a lengthy North American tour, UK-based singer and songwriter Calum Scott has shared his sophomore studio album Bridges via Capitol Records. The album arrives alongside a heartwarming, slice-of-life music video for the album’s single “Heaven.”
Directed by Lewis Cater, the “Heaven” music video zooms in on moments both grand and seemingly minuscule, showing both in a light that emphasizes their equal and shared impact. In the visual, a couple is seen feeding a newborn baby, newlyweds wear their wedding attire to share fries at a quaint restaurant, and two young women swirl in the nerves of a first date. All the while, Scott stands in the heights of the Hollywood Hills as the lyrics pour from his soul.
“From touring all over the world and seeing how people have been affected by my music, I realized how important it is for me to keep writing from a very honest place,” Scott shared in a statement. “I’ve learned that I can take the painful things I’ve been through, then create something beautiful that helps people to process their feelings, to take action, to become more compassionate and understanding of others, or just to escape from the world for a while.”
He adds: “For me this new album is about sharing things I’ve never shared before and taking leaps that sometimes feel terrifying, with the hope that it will bring some inspiration or reassurance to anyone who needs it.”
Scott will head out on tour on July 30 with a show at the Neptune Theatre in Seattle, Washington. The singer will make stops in Portland, San Diego, Austin, Atlanta, New York, Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Cleveland, Minneapolis, and more. Select dates on the tour are already sold out, but additional ticket information and complete dates can be found on the official Calum Scott website.
“Looking out and seeing everyone connecting with these songs I’ve written in the most tragic or beautiful moments is the closest thing to magic that I’ll ever get,” Scott shared. “It never stops inspiring me to be as real and sincere in my music as I possibly can.”
