Muni Long Teams Up With Saweetie For ‘Baby Boo’ From Upcoming EP
The 5-track project ‘Public Displays Of Affection Too’ is set for release on June 24.
Muni Long is kicking off the summer season with “Baby Boo,” an anthemic new single featuring Saweetie. The track arrives via Def Jam Recordings and Supergiant who are also gearing up for the release of the singer and songwriter’s forthcoming EP Public Displays Of Affection Too, out on June 24.
“Baby Boo” interpolates “My Boo,” the 1996 single from Ghost Town DJs. On the skittering, upbeat chorus, Muni Long sings: “I love you, I love you (Yeah) / I’m always thinkin’ of you (Always) / And no, it’s not a crush / Baby, I wanna lock you down (I wanna) / Ooh, I wanna cuff you (Oh, yeah) / Wanna make you my boo (My boo), wanna make you my boo.”
Saweetie delivers a fiery verse later in the song, rapping: “Maybe you’ll love me on Monday (Monday) / Maybe you’ll love me on Tuesday (Uh-huh) / Maybe you’ll notice me onе day / If you look at me, I’m gonna faint bae / ‘Cause you got mе meltin’ like a popsicle.”
Public Displays Of Affection Too will arrive as a follow up to Muni Long’s acclaimed EP Public Displays Of Affection. The record features the hit single “Hrs and Hrs” as well as the viral single “Time Machine.” The project will also feature the new track “27 Pieces.”
Since rebranding under a new stage name, the artist who formerly performed as Priscilla Renea has found greater freedom and confidence within her songwriting and performance.
“I know now I am enough to not allow other people to sway me,” Long explained to ELLE in an interview earlier this year. “I am just going to keep making great work and don’t make it about the accolades. If I celebrate, it is really to acknowledge everyone else’s contribution to my dream.”
In a separate statement, she shared: “Priscilla is the name I was born with. I always wanted to be Muni Long though. She’s fearless. She has intent. She is me.”
