BTS’s J-Hope To Make History With Headlining Lollapalooza Set
J-Hope will be the first South Korean artist to ever headline a main stage at a major U.S. music festival.
Lollapalooza has added several names to its lineup for its upcoming 2022 event, and K-pop devotees everywhere are celebrating that J-Hope from BTS will headline on Sunday night.
The festival’s Instagram account said, “We are thrilled to announce j-hope of @bts.bighitofficial will headline #Lolla 2022 on Sunday, July 31st! His performance will make history, cementing him as the first South Korean artist to ever headline a main stage at a major U.S. music festival.”
J-Hope joins fellow Lollapalooza headliners Metallica, Lil Baby, Dua Lipa, Machine Gun Kelly, Big Sean, J. Cole, and many others. He is set to perform at the Bed Light Seltzer stage at 9:00 PM on Sunday, July 31.
Elsewhere on the line-up, the likes of Glass Animals, Big Sean, The Kid Laroi, Tove Lo, FLETCHER, Remi Wolf, Gracie Abrams, and Sam Fender will also perform. The Chicago festival will also boast a special appearance by Jane’s Addiction, the legendary rock band fronted by Lollapalooza’s founder, Perry Farrell.
Tickets for the festival are on sale now and will be available to purchase from the festival’s official website, where you’ll also find more line-up info.
Lollapalooza US will take place after the European legs of the festival, which will see Post Malone, The Killers, and Pearl Jam top the bill in Stockholm between July 1-3. In Paris, Imagine Dragons, David Guetta, Pearl Jam, and A$AP Rocky will headline over the weekend of July 16-17.
In other BTS news, the group will celebrate their ninth anniversary and the release of their new anthology album Proof in style next week with a special live event.
The Korean record-breakers are set to hold a Proof live performance, which will be streamed via their official YouTube channel, Bangtan TV.
Proof Live will take place on Monday (June 13) at 9pm KST (8am ET). According to a poster shared on the group’s Twitter page, a “special guest” will also join the seven-piece for the event. No further details about the event have been shared at present.
