Dreamer Boy Returns With Carefree Anthem, ‘JUMPSHOT!’
The acoustic song is a sentimental ode to basketball and good friends.
Singer-songwriter Dreamer Boy (aka Zach Taylor) released his new single, “JUMPSHOT!” today, via slowplay / Harvest Records. Written and recorded in 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, the sun-soaked, acoustic anthem is an ode to friendship and one of Taylor’s favorite pastimes, basketball.
Inspired by The Last Dance docuseries about the Chicago Bulls, Taylor and his friends spent much of their free time on the basketball court, amid lockdown. “We would play a game and after catching our breaths, say, ‘Run it back,’” Taylor shared in a statement. “We existed outside space and time for those games. This song is about what true friendship can feel like in the wake of turbulent change.”
Alongside the single, Dreamer Boy also shared a music video, co-directed with Adam Alonzo and shot in his adopted hometown of Nashville. The DIY visual for “JUMPSHOT!” stunningly captures the nostalgia of decades past, as well as the heartfelt nature of being around friends.
Fans can expect to hear “JUMPSHOT!” and selections from Dreamer Boy’s 2021 album, All The Ways We Are Together, as he gears up to join New Zealand star Benee on the road this summer. The duo, who released the collaborative single “ARE YOU LETTING GO?” last fall, will visit several big cities across North America, including Toronto, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
