J Balvin, Daddy Yankee Among Headliners At Viva! LA Music Festival
The one-day festival takes place at LA’s Dodger Stadium on June 25.
J Balvin, Daddy Yankee, Becky G, and Kali Uchis are set to headline the inaugural Viva! LA Music Festival, taking place at Dodger Stadium on June 25. Produced by Goldenvoice, who also host Coachella and Stagecoach, the Los Angeles event is a spinoff of the Pomona-based Viva! Festival, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
“Viva! goes beyond just a music festival, it has a strong mission of building community and representation, which has led to its cult following that started in L.A. and has since gone global,” organizers noted in a press release. “The fest celebrates those often overshadowed immigrants, youth of color, the underserved, the working class in the suburbs, various marginalized communities, and artists that have long been pushed out of the larger Anglo music arena.”
Colombian star J Balvin surprised fans earlier this year with a new single, “Niño Soñador,” while last week he dropped a collaborative two-song EP with Ed Sheeran. At this weekend’s Grammy Awards, his album, Jose, is up for the first-ever Best Música Urbana Album. Balvin will also be among the ceremony’s star-studded lineup of performers. Meanwhile, his fellow festival headliner Daddy Yankee has been equally busy, following the recent release of his final album, LEGENDADDY.
Other performers on Viva! Los Angeles’ lineup include Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Lenin Ramirez, Carin Leon, Tainy, Carla Morrison, Ivy Queen, Cuco, Los Dos Carnales, The Marías, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, Chicano Batman, Ed Maverick, Cazzu, La Sonora Dinamita, Lido Pimienta, Eslabón Armado, and more.
Presale tickets open up this Saturday, April 2 at 10:00 am PT, with general tickets going on sale at 2:00 pm the same day. There are a number of ticket tiers available, including GA, GA+, VIP, and VIP+, with payment plans available. According to Viva! LA’s website, they will be unveiling this year’s list of food vendors closer to the event’s start date, along with official set times for each of the performers.
The festival will also be donating $1.00 from every ticket sold to No Us Without You LA, a non-profit organization that aims to feed the city’s undocumented immigrant communities, including “hundreds of food insecure hospitality, day laborers, street vendors, and mariachi families.”
