Taylor Swift Previews New Song ‘Carolina’ In ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ Trailer
The song was produced by Aaron Dessner of The National.
Taylor Swift has teased a new song titled “Carolina” in a new trailer for Where the Crawdads Sing, a new adaptation of Delia Owens’ 2018 novel of the same name. Aaron Dessner of The National produced the track.
It’s the first new music from Swift since she released Taylor’s Version of Red in 2021. Red (Taylor’s Version) is a 30-track re-recording of her 2012 Red album. It became the star’s 10th album to soar to No.1 on the Billboard 200. Among its previously unheard tracks is a 10-minute version of “All Too Well,” which went to No.1 on the Hot 100.
More recently, Ed Sheeran’s collaboration with Swift, “The Joker and the Queen,” debuted on the Hot 100 at No.21 upon its release, which marked Swift’s 86th top 40 hit on the Hot 100.
With the song, she tied Lil Wayne for the second-most wins inside the fabled songs chart. Drake leads the battle—and it’s not particularly close—with 145 smashes that have ascended to the top 40.
Swift is also set to feature on a new Record Store Day charity compilation titled Portraits Of Her. Launched back in 2008, RSD will return for its 15th anniversary event on April 23 after hosting two vinyl drop dates in 2021.
“For RSD 2022, we’re teaming up again with our friends at Vans for a compilation album,” organisers said of Portraits Of Her in a statement, “and this one benefits WE ARE MOVING THE NEEDLE, an organization that supports female recording professionals, including audio engineers and producers.”
In addition to Swift, the 16-track album will also feature Girl in Red, Julien Baker, Banks, Princess Nokia, Leyla Blue, Boyish, Bully, Alice Longyu Gao, Laura Jane Grace, Asiahn, Girl Ultra, K. Flay, Mariah The Scientist, Julia Michaels, and Joy Oladokun.
Whether Swift’s contribution will be a new track or not has yet to be confirmed. The news of the new compilation comes after Swift was announced as the first-ever global ambassador of Record Store Day.
