Manchester Orchestra Share Dirty Projectors’ Kaleidoscopic Version of ‘Telepath’
The band begins a sprawling North American tour tonight (Oct. 5) in Dallas.
Manchester Orchestra have shared a new version of their latest single “Telepath,” reimagined by Dirty Projectors.
The track is a deconstructed and kaleidoscopic rendering of the heartfelt original from the band’s acclaimed new album, The Million Masks of God (Loma Vista Recordings). “Telepath (Dirty Projectors Version)” follows Local Natives’ reworking of Masks’ lead single “Bed Head,” the band’s latest No.2 AAA and Top 20 Alternative radio hit.
The track’s release coincides with Manchester Orchestra’s long-awaited and much anticipated return to the road as their North American tour—their first in nearly two years—kicks off tonight (Oct. 5) at Dallas’ Gas Monkey. Upcoming shows include a performance at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom on October 21, as well as their 11th annual hometown festival The Stuffing at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on November 19.
A new, tour-exclusive deluxe version of The Million Masks of God, pressed on transparent red with white flecks vinyl and featuring a new poster insert, will be available for sale during the tour.
Early next year, Manchester Orchestra will resume their North American tour, which includes one of their biggest Los Angeles shows to date at the Hollywood Palladium on February 26.
The group recently released the heavy, slow-burning new song “Never Ending,” their contribution to the Dark Nights: Death Metal Soundtrack, executive produced by Tyler Bates (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Watchmen,” “John Wick”) and out digitally now.
Produced by Manchester Orchestra’s lead songwriting duo of Hull and McDowell, Catherine Marks (PJ Harvey, The Killers) and Ethan Gruska (Phoebe Bridgers), The Million Masks Of Godpresents an even grander scale of the epic and re-focused approach to record-making that the band has forged in recent years. Their sixth album finds the band relentlessly pushing themselves to create a work that breaks beyond the scope and limits of every previous release in an effort to create their most towering achievement to date, all while sorting through the aftermath of a devastating loss.
