DaBaby Drops New Single And Visual For ‘Masterpiece’
The track is DaBaby’s first release since November’s ‘My Brothers Keeper’ EP.
Grammy-nominated rapper DaBaby has dropped his first release of 2021, appropriately titled “Masterpiece.”
The single arrives with a music video directed by Gemini Visions in which DaBaby cruises around in his collection of luxury vehicles, shows off his jewelry, and makes an appearance at a birthday party.
“Hoppin’ on a jet to get a bag or two (Let’s go) / Prolly gonna need to do some therapy,” he raps on the track. It was produced by D.A. Got That Dope whose notable collaborations include 24kGoldn, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and more. This was the first time the producer and rapper have joined forces on a track of his own.
DaBaby originally teased “Masterpiece” on Instagram on December 19. It is his first single since November 2020 when he unveiled the 7-track tribute EP My Brother’s Keeper in a surprise release.
“Masterpiece” follows an eventful year for DaBaby. His album Blame It On Baby debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and marked his third entry on the chart, joining KIRK and Baby on Baby.
With Blame It On Baby came DaBaby’s first No. 1 single with “Rockstar” featuring Roddy Ricch. The song received three Grammy Award nominations for the 2021 ceremony in the categories Best Rap Song, Best Rap/Sung Performance, and the coveted Record of the Year.
He is also nominated in the Best Rap Performance category for “BOP” which peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track comes from DaBaby’s 2019 album KIRK which also features popular songs “Toes” featuring Lil Baby and Moneybagg Yo and “iPhone” featuring Nicki Minaj.
DaBaby made an appearance on Megan Thee Stallion’s recently released debut album Good News on “Cry Baby” which is currently going viral on TikTok.
The track, which was also produced by D.A. Got That Dope, has been featured in more than 1.1 million videos on the platform. Each of the rapper’s verses on the song opens with the lyric “That ain’t DaBaby, that’s my baby.”
